Jacob was born on June 2nd, 2007. A healthy boy of 8 pounds, 6 ounces with a full head of blonde hair. From the moment he was born, everyone fell in love with him. He was a beautiful child with big bright blue eyes. Nurses at the hospital would make special trips to come in and see him, always commenting on his hair and amazed with his eyes.Jacob's parents, Blair and Jennifer, were very proud of their new arrival. They looked forward to the day they could take this little bundle of joy home. Blair was especially excited about the birth of his son. Blair grew up with parents who were not too kind to him and he was determined to not make the same mistakes with his son. After finding out he was soon to be a father and being told it was going to be a boy, he began right away to get ready. He cleaned out the "junk room", painted the walls blue and purple, put up the thomas the tank decals, purchased the crib, change table and dresser. He was all ready. He was ready to be the best father he could be to his son. He couldn't wait. Finally the day came. They were ready to go home. The hospital cleared both Jennifer and Jacob and they were free to go. Everyone was very excited. Jennifer was extra careful with her new born as she placed him in his car seat for the very first time. She then climbed into the front seat along with her husband. As they drove away, they both looked back at their new born son and thought this is the happiest day of their lives. But that was to change....Although Blair knew the trip home like the back of his hand, having traveled it a hundred times while his wife and son were in the hospital, he decided to take a detour. There was a garden sale that he wanted to see if there were any baby items that he could get. It was still early in the morning, so Jennifer didn't see any reason why they couldn't stop for a minute for her husband to have a quick look.As they pulled up to the garden sale, they could see that there were already a lot of people there and no room in the driveway to park. Blair decided to just pull over on the side of the road for a minute. He got out and proceeded to the sale. He could see that there were a lot of baby items and he was excited to find out what gems were hidden in the pile. He arrived at a big box of toys for a little boy and started to look through the pile. In the background he could hear men working on a home that was up the street on top of the hill. They were pouring cement for the basement of a new home. What he heard next sent a chill down his spine. In the background he heard men yelling and screaming and when he looked back he saw that the cement truck slipped out of gear and was out of control. Without a driver the cement truck came down the hill at high speeds. Before Blair could react, the cement truck smashed into his car, where both his wife and son were waiting. Fear filled his heart as he knew that his wife and child could be killed. As fast as he could with tears running down his face he ran towards the mangled mess. His screams could be heard for miles.Frantically he looked into the car trying to see if everyone was ok. Luckily he could hear his boy crying. He knew he was still alive. He checked on his wife and she too was alive. A huge sigh of relief came over him. He knew everything was going to be ok. A call to the police and ambulance was already made and they soon were at the scene. After about an hour they had both Jennifer and Jacob freed from the wreckage, but there was a problem. Jacob was hurt and he was rushed back to the hospital. The nurses were shocked to hear that the bright eyed little boy who just left was back in the emergency room. Jacob had a collapsed lung caused by a metal object that impacted his chest. Doctors worked to save this little boys life. They were successful. Jacob was safe again, but not 100% better. The accident caused permanent damage to his chest and he'll need special medical equipment."
